The day I moved to San Francisco in May of 2011, I was minding my own business and happily dodging heroin needles as I ambled along the sidewalk in SOMA. I was walking back from returning my Budget truck, and I happened to wander past some lovely folks who didn't look at all to have dropped said needles. They were setting up a beautiful art fair nearby. This fair turned out to be artMRKT, and a generous curator gave me a few extra passes to the 2011 event. (I think it must have been due to my obvious needle-dodging-skills)
I distinctly recall walking through the amazing work that was on display that year at the fair and thinking simultaneously "Holy S****" and "I want to show here someday." At the time, I didn't have any real belief that it would happen in the near future. Three years on, I'm ecstatic to announce that I'll be showing new work at San Francisco's artMRKT art fair next week with Hashimoto Contemporary.

I created 3 new pieces for the fair, titled Jack, Eugene and Billy. Hashimoto Contemporary will be located at booth 207, and the fair runs May 15-18.

In other news, I recently moved studios from San Francisco to Oakland, joining a growing art community across the water from Alameda that is home to Bay Area art-scene mainstays Eddie Colla, Brett Amory, Peter Adamyan and others. The talented Shaun Roberts stopped by last week to commemorate the move and photograph the new space in action.
